Your clients do not need more choices.
They need a better decision process.
Interior design decisions are rarely simple.
Clients are navigating unfamiliar territory, spending meaningful amounts of money, balancing competing priorities, negotiating with other decision-makers, and trying very hard not to get anything wrong.
Without a clear method for guiding those choices:
- Presentations get longer, not clearer.
- Clients ask other people for their opinions.
- Approvals slip behind schedule.
- Designers research options the client will never approve.
- Senior team members get pulled in to rescue difficult conversations.
- Clients second-guess choices everyone thought were settled.
The solution is not a more forceful sales technique.
It is a better decision process.
The DECIDE Method™
A practical framework for helping clients make good choices.
The DECIDE Method gives design professionals a clear, repeatable way to guide clients through emotional, expensive, and unfamiliar decisions.
DATA
Gather the information that actually matters.
EDIT
Define the real problem before generating solutions.
CURATE
Present meaningful options—not every possible option.
INFORM
Explain recommendations and tradeoffs clearly.
DECIDE
Help the client move from considering to choosing.
ENCOURAGE
Reinforce confidence and reduce second-guessing afterward.
The goal is not to control the client’s choice. It is to create the conditions in which a good decision becomes easier to make.
What your team will learn
After learning and applying the DECIDE Method, your designers should be better equipped to:
- Ask fewer, more useful client questions.
- Recognize why a decision has stalled.
- Curate options around the client’s actual priorities.
- Explain recommendations without overwhelming the client.
- Address competing priorities and disagreement.
- Secure milestone decisions on schedule.
- Reset expectations when approvals fall behind.
- Strengthen client confidence after a choice has been made.
When these skills improve, teams spend less time repeating presentations, chasing decisions, researching unnecessary options, and escalating avoidable problems.
Projects move more smoothly. Employees lead with greater confidence. Clients feel better supported. And the company protects time and margin already being lost inside the current process.
Speaking and training formats
Keynotes and Webinars
Practical, engaging presentations for conferences, associations, company events, and industry audiences.
Participants leave with a fresh understanding of why clients struggle to decide—and tools they can immediately apply to client conversations.
Interactive Workshops
Focused sessions that combine teaching, discussion, real-world examples, and practical application. Ideal for audiences that need more than inspiration and want to begin using the ideas during the session. Best for showrooms with samples on hand to use during the workshop.
Team Training
Customized training for interior design firms, design-build companies, builders with in-house designers, showrooms, and other client-facing design teams. Programs may include a focused introduction, a multi-session training series, leadership involvement, exercises, implementation support, and application to real client situations.
Not sure which format fits? Tell me what is happening inside your organization and what you want your people to do differently. I will recommend the most useful place to begin.
This is not a fluffy talk about “being more confident.”
Confidence matters—but telling someone to have more of it is not training.
Rebecca’s presentations give participants language, tools, and a process they can use when a real client is overwhelmed, two spouses disagree, a budget suddenly feels frightening, or an overdue decision is holding up the project.
The work is practical, specific, and designed to be used Monday morning.
Meet Rebecca West
Rebecca West is an interior design business coach, author of Happy Starts at Home, and creator of the DECIDE Method.
Before becoming a coach, speaker, and trainer, she spent 17 years building and leading Seriously Happy Homes, a flat-fee, design-only residential interior design firm.
- Her company grew to a team of five generating approximately $425,000 in annual design-only revenue, with a 65–80% conversion rate and more than 150 five-star client reviews.
- Rebecca trained her designers to lead clients with the same confidence she had as the owner. They learned how to conduct consultations, communicate the company’s value, lead client conversations, and guide decisions with the same consistency clients had previously expected only from the founder.
- Her ideas were not developed inside a hypothetical business. They were built and tested with real clients, real employees, real contractors, real budgets—and real moments when someone became convinced the fireplace tile was ruining their entire life.
Her presentation style combines thoughtful strategy, relatable stories, humor, and practical actions participants can apply immediately. Rebecca has taught and spoken for organizations including NKBA, ASID, IDS, SCORE, KBIS, and VFTI.
